Environmental, Energy and Land Use Law Student and Alumni Perspectives

“In addition to the wide range of environmental, energy, and land use law courses offered at the College of Law, there are also a lot of opportunities for students to get involved and gain practical legal
experience. Students are able to participate in environmental externships and moot court competitions, the Environmental Law Society, and the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law. Our organizations and faculty members do a great job of connecting students with local attorneys and preparing them for careers in environmental law after graduation.”

“From its vantage in the hub of our state’s regulatory system to the depth of its course offerings, Florida State is a fitting place to examine the laws that shape a complex and evolving framework of environmental and land use policy. As a recent graduate, my exposure to these subjects at the College of Law has helped inform my initial approach to the challenges and opportunities facing the clients I serve.”

“A successful environmental law practice requires both technical competence and strong working relationships with environmental regulatory agencies. The FSU Environmental, Energy and Land
Use Law Program provides students with excellent opportunities for focused course work in various areas of environmental law. Additionally, by being in the state capital, students have access to externship opportunities with environmental regulatory agencies and the legislature, which are currently embroiled in a number of critical environmental issues impacting the future of the state of Florida.”
